Conservation action is two-pronged; one, to build conservation awareness and two, to build scientific knowledge as a weapon for policy changes. Society for Odonate Studies focuses on educating the general public, communities of students and forest managers on one hand and on the other, conduct scientific studies on odonates and their habitats. 

Members of SOS have been engaged in conducting classes on dragonflies throughout Kerala, introducing the species and its ecology.
