New addition to the odonata checklist of Kerala

A medium-sized dragonfly, Indothemis limbata, belonging to the family Libellulidae was spotted from the paddy fields of Koolikkunnu, Mangad in Kasaragod district.  This important observation was made by Mr. Muhammed Haneef who is working as an assistant professor in Botany at the Government Brennen College, Thalassery and an active member of the Society for Odonata Studies.

Commonly known as Restless Demon, Indothemis limbata, is previously seen in north-eastern States, Maharashtra, and Coorg in the neighbouring Karnataka and this is the first time it is reported from Kerala, bringing the total number of odonata species of Kerala to 169.
